- What is Canyon Vista MC Tours?
- We cater to small & medium size groups of motorcyclists and develop
specialized, guided tours to suit the group. We refer to our tours
as "cloverleaf" tours because most start and end in Historic Victorian
Wellsboro, PA Your luggage stays behind in the comfort of our selected
lodging, while you enjoy your ride unencumbered by any planning worries.
Back to top - What do tours include?
- CVMc tours are all inclusive packages. Our average tour includes
two night's lodging, one buffet breakfast, one or more scrumptious
catered dinners, a hearty Sunday brunch, special attractions, one
full day of touring led by our expert tour guides, and a mystery tour
on your final day that will lead you toward home. All this for one
reasonable price. The package can include an optional meal or hospitality
gathering on your arrival evening with a preview of the tours you'll
be taking, refreshments (0r meal), door prizes and perhaps even some
live musical entertainment. Some of our groups choose to add another
day or two of touring, as well.
Back to top - How do the tours work?
- Most of our groups choose to arrive during the evening and check
into their lodging, enjoy a meal or hospitality evening with the tour
director. We then meet for a buffet breakfast the following morning,
and the tour starts around 9 AM. A one day tour would return to Wellsboro
for lodging and meet for brunch the next morning prior to heading
out for a scenic mystery tour devised by your tour director toward
your home base. This concept can be expanded to include a 2nd and
even a 3rd full day tour.
Back to top - How much does this cost?
- Prices vary depending on choices of lodging, dining, and special
attractions that are all part of your own personal customized package.
We do all of the arranging and reservations - you just come and enjoy!
A true vacation. By completing the Quotation Questionnaire found on
our forms page and returning it to us, you
will provide us with information we need to develop a proposal for
you and your group. This will allow us to develop a tentative budget
for you based on your needs and interests. Check out our sample Big
Woods Tour budget which can be modified with deletions, additions,
or up-grades. TALK to us by phone (570-439-1006 cell) or e-mail (
). See contact page.
Back to top - What is the lodging like?
- Wellsboro and the surrounding area provide a variety of lodging
opportunities from a historic hotel, to quality motels; rustic cabins
or elegant B & B’s. We work with you to provide you with the best
selection for your group from what is available on your tour date.
Lodging fills quickly during the tourist season. Plan ahead and book
with us early. If you want modest or fancy, we can make the best local
arrangements for you.
Back to top - What are the meals like?
- We pride ourselves on picking quality dining establishments in our
riding area to fit the pleasure of your group. Hearty breakfast buffet
and Sunday brunch in Wellsboro; quality dining at water’s edge; quaint
lunch stops, and fun ice cream breaks assure that no one will go away
hungry or disappointed.
Back to top - What is the best tour to take?
- Big Woods, Letchworth
Gorge, Eagles
Mere-Worlds End State Park-Forksville; or Watkins
Glen? CVMC Tours's most popular tour is the Big
Woods West Tour. This tour allows you to view the PA Grand Canyon
from the top rim at the start of your tour day, and finishes with
dinner in the bottom of the canyon along the beautiful Pine Creek.
In between you will see some of the most beautiful scenery Pennsylvania
has to offer along paved, curved roads selected for motorcycle compatibility.
You might even see a hang glider or two, and perhaps an eagle. Options
with this tour include a trip to the PA Lumber Museum along the way.
Lunch could be on your own in another quaint Victorian town, or it
could be a catered picnic lunch beside a wooded stream. Because your
tour director loves an ice cream stop in the middle of the day, he's
been known to make that happen as well. After your creek side dinner,
which could include the site of deer drinking or eagles soaring overhead,
you will return to Wellsboro's gas lit Main street in time for a stroll
and perhaps a visit to some of our establishments for ice cream, libation,
a movie, or a late night snack.
Back to top - What other tours are there?
- The Watkins
Glen/Finger Lakes/Glen Curtis Tour is very popular, especially
if you have an interest in racing. This one includes beautiful roads
and scenery as well, but also could include 3 laps behind a pace car
on the famous Watkins Glen International Raceway if the track is available
on your selected tour day. You will definitely tour the 6.6 mile original
1948 sports car course through the streets of Watkins Glen. Other
options are a visit to the Glen Curtis Museum, lunch in a refurbished
railway station at the foot of one of the Finger Lakes, Winery tours
& ice cream stops. A scenic boat ride or a hike through the Watkins
Glen Gorge might be of interest to your group. The gorge path winds
over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade.
Rim trails overlook the gorge.
Back to top - The Letchworth Gorge Tour
is another wonderful scenic choice. Starting in Wellsboro it takes
you along scenic routes through upper PA and lower New York State
to the other Grand Canyon of the East - the Letchworth Gorge. The
Genesee River roars through the 17 mile long gorge over three major
waterfalls between cliffs - as high as 600 feet in some places - surrounded
by lush forests. This tour includes an opportunity to either ride
or hike along the gorge and a lovely sit down lunch in the Glen Iris
Inn overlooking one of the most beautiful of the falls in the park.
Coming home you will drive through another Victorian village with
a Sweet Shop that will welcome you like neighbors come to call.
Back to top - Forksville-World's
End State Park-Eagles Mere Tour: This tour includes visits to
all three places listed. You will get the opportunity to hear your
motorcycle rumble across a covered bridge and will enjoy some of the
most delightful forest-lined curvy roads in the state of PA. Stops
might include a general store for snacks, a hike in the park, and
a walk around the wonderful village of Eagles Mere with quaint shops
and a sparkling mountain lake. Lunch could be in a historic Inn, a
picnic in the park, or a quaint "mom and pop" restaurant in the woods.
Back to top - What if I want something different?
- Other tours can be designed to suit. Some tours could include other
activities than riding... such as a train, trolley or boat ride; hiking
time, winery tours, museums, a covered wagon or horseback ride through
the PA Grand Canyon. We can even arrange for evening entertainment:
movies, plays, music or art festivals, fairs, etc.
Back to top - How do I make my plans with you?
- Start by filling out the Quotation Questionnaire found on the FORMS
page and send it back to us at the address on the form. Once we've
received this, we can put together a proposal for you and your group.
OR you can start by calling our tour director at 570-724-5794 or our
cell at 570-724-1006 or e-mail at mctours@epix.net.
Back to top - Do you ride in the rain?
- We ride rain or shine at the pleasure of the group. Be flexible
and bring rain gear.
Back to top - Can you give me a price range?
- This is difficult to do because of the many variables. However, you can review the Big Woods Basic Tour SAMPLE quote as an example on the Big Woods page. It is based on 8 participants and will give you an idea of how the rides are budgeted.
Back to top - Do you rent motorcycles?
- We do not, but we will advise you how to contact the rental services
in our area.
Back to top - What riding skill level is required?
- The roads are typically well-paved rural roads which require a moderate
skill level due to the two-laned, blacktopped, rural twisties we prefer
to ride. Speed level is moderate to semi-spirited as controlled by
your group's ride captain.
Back to top - How many miles do we ride each day?
- The full day rides are from 185 to 250 miles. We stop frequently
for gas, food, or attractions.
Back to top - Do you provide fuel?
- No. Your gas tank should be topped off before breakfast. Gas stops
and restroom breaks are provided along the way according to the needs
of the group.
Back to top - Can I join your tour and book my own lodging?
- We prefer the camaraderie that a group gains by having arranged
the accommodations for the entire group via CVMcTours.
Back to top - Do I have to be part of a group to go on your tours?
- No. We'll be happy to fit you in with another group, if they allow
it. Call or e-mail us (See Contact Page).
Back to top - What is your maximum/minimum group size?
- CVMC will always accommodate your requests by adding escorts and refining the tour design to fit the size of your group. Large rider groups are always welcome. From 8 to 80 + we can make it work.
Back to top - What is your Mission?
- CVMcTours is a knowledgeable and experienced motorcycle touring company extending our motorcycle experience to the riding community by providing quality routes, dining and local lore with affordable lodging to riders who treasure the experience of the journey and respect each other. Bad manners, drinking before kick-stands down at night and excessive noise on the road are not welcome.
